“You get the best beer and Wiener Schnitzel in Berlin”

Hollywood star Tom Cruise popped into the BILD offices in Berlin to discuss his new film ‘Valkyrie’, chat to staff and rave about German food!

The actor is in town for the European premiere of his new film on January 22 and took time to take a tour of the BILD editorial office. He charmed the staff by shaking hands with everyone and posing for photos.

He told an audience of BILD employees: “I feel honoured to be here. Whenever I come to Germany I always receive a really warm welcome.”

BILD’s editor-in-chief Kai Diekmann wanted to know why he decided to star in the film about Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg, who led a failed plot to assassinate Hitler.

“I wanted the world to know that there was a resistance to Nazism, that even then there were people who were against it. We wanted to pay respect to this resistance.”

When asked if this was the most important film he had ever done he replied: “Definitely”.

He also revealed what it is that he likes most about Berlin: “You get the best beer here – and the best Wiener Schnitzel.”
