Hey everybody! There’s news to report!

Alba and Cruise ‘to team up’
Fantastic Four actress Jessica Alba is reported to be set to star in a new horror movie produced by Tom Cruise.

The Eye will be a Hollywood remake of the 2002 Hong Kong film Jian Gui where Allison, to be played by Jessica, receives an eye transplant which allows her to see into the supernatural world.
The horror film, which will be filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will be produced by Cruise/Wagner productions, according to World Entertainment News Network.

Sin City star Jessica is rumoured to have signed a $4 million (£2.01 million) deal with Tom’s company which will make 2007 an even busier year for the actress.
She is currently working on a number of movies including the sequels Sin City 2 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Her new thriller, Awake, which sees her star alongside Hayden Christensen will also be released this year.

Although it’s still unknown if the first half of TomKat will be starring in the film alongside the Californian beauty, he has been known to take the lead roles in a number of his productions including the Mission Impossible series, War of the Worlds and Minority Report. (inthenews.co.uk)

A bit ‘old’ news is the fact that Michael Pena has joined Lions for Lambs, the Robert Redford-directed drama that marks the first film for United Artists since Tom Cruise and C/W partner Paula Wagner signed on to revive the company for Harry Sloan’s MGM.
Variety says Pena will play an Army Ranger lieutenant and platoon leader in Afghanistan, and he and his men become the catalyst for multiple overlapping storylines.
Cruise, Meryl Streep and Redford also star in the drama. (ComingSoon.net)

And if it would be up to the widow of the late motor-racing star Bruce McLaren, Tom would be the best choice to play her late husband in the upcoming movie about his life. “I was talking about who could play the part this morning with my daughter, Amanda, and I thought Tom Cruise would be a good choice,” Mrs McLaren-Brickett said. “He looks very similar to Bruce – he is dark, he is the same height and has a similar build . . . but he would be too expensive” reports smh.com.au and ChinaView.cn.

And for anybody who is in Malaysia this month: channel HBO presents Cruise Capers, starring “the actor with the million-dollar smile, in some of his best movies”, reads the article at nst.com.my. They start with Jerry Maguire tonight [24 Jan], Born On The Fourth Of July is next on Thursday, followed by Collateral on Jan 26. The grand finale of Cruise Capers is War Of The Worlds – this “seat-clutching” movie premieres for the first time on Asian television on Saturday.
Quite some Tom-nights for the Asian people, enjoy!
