Berlin – Hollywood star Tom Cruise (42) has finally discovered his heart for the German capital. “I like the people here very much”, said the frequent Berlin visitor on Wednesday and silently added just like after the model of John F. Kennedy : “Ich bin ein Berliner!”.

The atmosphere in the city is very warm and the people ready to help, said Cruise. Cruise talked to Berlin’s reigning Mayor Klaus Wowereit (SPD) in the Red City Hall again about the shooting for his movie “Mission: Impossible 3” planned next year in Berlin and Potsdam. “I absolutely want to shoot here”, said Cruise. Wowereit assured the actor: “For you we don’t only roll out the red carpet, but even the golden carpet.”

Concerning Cruise’s wish to shoot scenes for “Mission: Impossible 3” in the Reichstag or the dome of the Parliament Wowereit said: “The Bundestag made a clear decision about the dome.” And he added: “But until then there’s a lot of time.” The President of the Bundestag Wolfgang Thierse (SDP) denied shootings in the building. But there would be talks about outdoor shots with the film studios Babelsberg, according to a speaker for the Bundestag. Cruise didn’t meet with Thierse.

Cruise wanted to present his new movie “Collateral” in the evening in the Cinestar cinema at the Potsdamer Platz, in which he portrays a villain for the first time. As an aged contract killer he is letting himself be driven across Los Angeles from murder to murder by his taxi driver. “I wanted a challenge”, explained Cruise his role selection. He took it calmly that he had to give up his glowing hero image and that he had to have grey hair as killer Vincent. “I will have to get used to that, that’s life”, said Cruise. Jamie Foxx and Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith, starr along his side. The movie starts in cinemas on September 23rd.

In his private life Cruise, currently single, puts high expectations on his third wife. “She has to be honest. She has to be someone who I can trust completely. And she has to have a good sense of humor and love adventures”, he told the magazine “Bunte”. He feels comfortable in the companion of women. After his breakup with actress Penelope Cruz he’s often going out with young ladies. “I know, that someday I will marry again”, told the ex-husband of Nicole Kidman.
