  • J.J. Abrams Wants Felicity for M:I-3

While Lindsay Lohan is saying she might have a role in director J.J. Abrams’ Mission: Impossible, starring Tom Cruise, Abrams himself tells TV Guide that he’s eyeing his former Felicity star Keri Russell for a role.

“There is a role that I think Keri would be spectacular for,” said Abrams, “but there’s a process I must go through [before I cast her].”

It is unclear whether or not this is the same role that Lohan is talking about.

Lindsay Lohan and Keri Russell in talks to star in M:I-3

Various websites (contactmusic, filmforce, accesshollywood) report that Lindsey Lohan is added to the M:I-3 cast, alongside Ving Rhames. Apparently Kenneth Branagh and Carrie-Anne Moss both remain serious possibilities for the thriller.

According to internet site Moviehole.net she was overheard talking about the film during a recent interview, which has yet to be broadcast. The redhead-gone-blonde told the interviewer, “Shhhh. You’re the first ones I’ve told,” according to the site. The actress let the news slip during a radio interview with 102.7 KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. She confirmed her involvement soon after to Access Hollywood.

“I actually met with J.J. Abrams, who is directing [the film],” said Lohan. “I’m a huge fan of … Lost and Alias, so hopefully, we will see what happens. If so, I’ll be in training for a few weeks, putting on some muscles.”

Regarding how it would feel to work alongside superstar Tom Cruise, the actress said, “It’s kind of an incredible feeling, I’m scared. If I do ‘Mission: Impossible 3′ that is going to be so exhilarating. I’m so excited, I just can’t wait to do stunts and get all into it.”

She’ll be heading for China, where shooting is expected to begin this fall. She wasn’t the producers’ first choice for the part however; she’s replacing Lost in Translation’s Scarlett Johannson, who recently pulled out of the project. Lohan’s character will most likely be a cute, ingénue ally of Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) in the Mission: Impossible 3 story.

On the other hand reporter Michael Ausiello from TVGuide said Abrams told him yesterday that he’s talking to his former Felicity muse, Keri Russell, about joining the cast of MI:3 — although it’s unclear if that’s for the same role as Lohan. “There is a role that I think Keri would be spectacular for,” he says, “but there’s a process I must go through [before I cast her].”

    UK Premiere

The UK Premiere of War of the Worlds will be in London on June 19th!

    Oprah’s Legend Ball/Cannes

  • Tom will be at the Cannes film festival on Wednesday, May 18th to present the new trailer for WAR OF THE WORLDS.
  • Oprah Winfrey rolled out the silver carpet for a lavish tribute to pioneering black women in Santa Barbara last night. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes attented Oprah’s Legend Ball. Pictures can be found here.

  • Tom at Cannes?

    theedge.bostonherald.com and toronto.fashion-monitor.com:

The film festival rumor mill is working overtime with the notion that Tom Cruise will make a surprise appearance at the Cannes Film Festival Wednesday to promote his new flick “War of the Worlds.”
Word is that Cruise, who is scheduled to show at the nearby Monte Carlos Grand Prix next week, will show up on the Croisette, the beachfront promenade, to pose under the mammoth “War of the Worlds” poster at the Carlton Hotel. With a captive audience of 4,000 journalists, Cruise knows that Cannes is, in the words of producer Joel Silver, the world’s stage for l0 days.
Whether Cruise will show with his new arm candy Katie Holmes is another question.

And Tom and Katie went to a gala at Santa Barbara hosted by Oprah Winfrey to pay tribute to pioneering black women, according to centredaily.com

    E!’s Ted Casablanca

I don’t really like what Ted has to say (usually nothing useful), but this on Tom is actually quite interesting, especially the last paragraph:

    Top Shun

Now, that dating mechanism otherwise known as Tom Cruise is surely creating his very own horror movie, n’est-ce pas? Mind you, I’m a zombie-lover as much as the next queen, and I cannot wait for Cruise’s redo of the Steven Spielberg-helmed War of the Worlds. Exciting, spooky stuff–lookin’ to lovin’ it!

But in the meantime, Tom’s seen to it to provide us gross-out fans with a little preview, if you will. Let’s get real. T.C. pretty much had an inkling his Top Gun world as he knew it would backfire once the news came out that he was dating the much younger, virginal Katie. This biz about the twice-married idol’s being surprised by everybody’s naysaying is simply what actors do best: act.

However, here’s where I plummet into the lonely and cold environs of the minority: Just like I think Tom’s gonna get his Oscar one day (he can be chillingly good at his job), I think something sincere perhaps could be percolating with Katie.

Not with Penélope, never bought that one (rebound silliness). But remember: Just as Nicole and Tom grew to have a genuine quality between them, so, too, might T. ‘n’ K. Of course, I could one day turn straight, but you get the against-the-grain thought here, I hope.

In other words: Give the folks a chance, already. We’re not the morality police here. And we’re def not these freaky frolickers’ mamas. Don’t like what they’re up to? Think it’s a ploy to sell their upcoming summer flicks (Batman Begins for her, War for him)? Don’t buy a friggin’ ticket!

() – there is more at the site about Katie.
