Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorcing

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are ending their five-year marriage.

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Holmes’ attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, said in a statement, first given to People Magazine. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”
Cruise’s rep, Amanda Lunberg, told THR, “Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”
The actor and actress were married in a star-studded Italian wedding in November, 2006, and have a six-year-old daughter named Suri. Cruise was previously married to actress Nicole Kidman, from 1990-2001, and actress Mimi Rogers, from 1987-1990. Holmes is 16 years his junior; she was previously engaged to actor Chris Klein.
Holmes is perhaps best known for her lead role in the teen drama Dawson’s Creek, while Cruise has toplined a long list of hit films. His most recent effort, the 80s hair-metal musical Rock of Ages, struggled at the box office, while this winter’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol proved a massive hit. He will next be seen as Jack Reacher in the big screen adaptation of the action novel One Shot.

Katie Holmes wants to address the hottest subject of tabloid speculation about her.
“Well, I’m not pregnant right now,” she says in the April issue of Glamour, out March 10.

In the interview, which was done in early February, she also talks about husband Tom Cruise’s concern over how gossip might be affecting her: “We were changing diapers. He said, ‘I don’t want you to get upset.’ And I said, ‘Well, I am upset.’ So we approached it together. But I definitely felt like — as a woman, as the mother of Suri — I want to handle this.”

The couple will celebrate their third wedding anniversary this year. And Holmes, 30, says she would like to celebrate in Rome, “one of the first places we went together” and where they wed.

Take a bow after ‘All My Sons’ wraps, Katie Holmes: You earned it

Katie Holmes on Broadway. It wasn’t so long ago when it was announced that Mrs. Tom Cruise would make her New York stage debut in, of all things, the hard-hitting Arthur Miller drama “All My Sons.”

The instant that news broke, so did the guessing game: Would Katie be any good? Would she sell tickets? Could she handle a Broadway schedule? And would her husband jump on the seats at the theater?

On Sunday, four months after previews began on Sept. 18, “All My Sons” ends its limited run at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The answers to those questions have emerged. They are, in order: yes, yes, yes and no — though Tom frequently sat in the seats to watch his wife at work.

And work she did. The 30-year-old actress, famous from TV’s “Dawson’s Creek” and such films as “Batman Begins” and “Pieces of April,” turned in a fine performance as a young woman in love with a man whose father is hiding a terrible secret. She blended in with stage vets John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson.

Yes, Holmes was mannered at times, as my review of the production stated. She sometimes shouted her lines as if projecting for the audience in the theater next door. But that had as much to do with the non-naturalistic staging as it did with her own acting ability. Fact is, the back half of TomKat carried her own.

And, it’s worth mentioning, she always showed up.

To date, she hasn’t missed a single performance. Holmes embraced Broadway, and her appetite for the stage seemed to deepen because of this experience.

She’s reportedly been offered the Kate Winslet role in a musical version of “Finding Neverland,” about the writer who created Peter Pan.

Holmes declined a request to comment for this story, but that possible offer could be a fascinating followup to “All My Sons.” Katie Holmes on Broadway: the second act.

By all accounts, she’d be welcomed back.

Tom Cruise: Katie-Less at Golden Globes

Talk about being double-booked: Tom Cruise has a big night on Jan. 11, as he’s nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes for his bit part in Tropic Thunder, but meanwhile, his wife and almost constant companion Katie Holmes has her last performance of All My Sons on Broadway that same night.

What’s a TomKat couple to do?

Katie’s decided to stay and her do last show,” Ina Treciokas, Katie’s rep tells FOX411. “She won’t be going with Tom to the Globes. The cast of All My Sons has been like a family and they want to end it together.”

So while Tom is flashing that big grin on the red carpet, Katie will be taking her final Broadway bow, at least for now. That leaves the question of who Tom will bring as a date. Maybe his mom, or a friend… but our vote is for Suri!

Katie Celebrates Her 30th Birthday Onstage – With a Sweet Surprise from Tom

Katie Holmes spent her 30th birthday performing in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons – but her big day did not go unnoticed. As the curtain fell Thursday, the cast and crew presented her with a specially-made birthday cake, a surprise orchestrated by none other than Tom Cruise.

Addressing the audience, Holmes’s costar John Lithgow announced, “Tom Cruise, our good friend, devoted fan to the show, doting husband of Katie, could not be here tonight. He’s heartsick that he couldn’t be here … but he wanted to make his presence felt. So, he’s joining us, inviting all of you, to celebrate Katie’s birthday.”

And with that, crewmembers wheeled out a five-tiered, white-frosted, circular birthday cake as the crowd cheered and applauded.

“I planned it so that when she comes out for the standing ovation, John [would] get the whole audience to wish her a happy birthday,” Cruise – who was in Los Angeles to premiere his new film, Valkyrie – told PEOPLE, just as the surprise was sprung.

“It’s going to be great,” he said, adding that they’d already had a private celebration the night before. (“That was the big one,” he noted.)

    Suri Helped, Too

A genuinely surprised Holmes, who had been celebrating her birthday all week long, brought her 2-year-old daughter Suri on to the stage as the cast – including Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson – encouraged the entire audience to sing “Happy Birthday.” Together, the mother-daughter duo blew out the candles.

Tom Cruise: “I Very Much Like Romance”

Katie Holmes is turning the big 3-0 on Thursday, and Tom Cruise is clearly making all the right moves.

“I’ve got some things planned tonight, and I’ve been surprising her throughout the week with things,” the Valkyrie star told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show this morning, noting that his gal will “be onstage” performing in the Broadway show All My Sons on her actual birthday.

Impressed by his romantic side, both on- and offscreen, Seacrest asked Hollywood’s top gun for a little advice on how to successfully get the girl at hello…

“You gotta know the right things and pay attention throughout the year and just know your lady,” instructed Cruise. “The flowers, what kind she likes, and set it up at the right time. Timing.”

But he pointed out that “it’s wrong” to file these little details in your BlackBerry for future reference.

“You have to be careful with the BlackBerry, because I’ve been working on the BlackBerry with these different things that I have set up for her and, of course, she’s right there and she knows my BlackBerry code,” said Cruise, adding with a laugh, “So I’ve been very cautious about that. So that’s a no. You don’t want to do that, OK, bachelor? Total no!”

    Spoken like a secret-keeping pro.
