‘Minority Report’-type interface debuts

We all remember ‘Minority Report’, and Tom interfacing with a computer using gestures only. It was a vertical interface, and it was virtual.

Now Microsoft has revealed a table-top interface, no keyboard, no mouse, dubbed ‘Surface’, and supposedly, opening the doors to ’surface computing.’
Surface is incorporated into a 30″ display mounted into a table. This allows user involvement to expand beyond just one person. Surface is capable of recognizing input from not just one finger, but multiple up to dozens of inputs simultaneously.

I know it’s not Tom-news but it reminded me of this great movie, so I couldn’t resist posting it! If you want to watch a demo, click here. In the beginning the demo is kind of boring, but it quickly gets quite nice to watch. You can just let it load and later skip the first minutes, if you like. After about ten minutes you see the pic stunt which is a bit similair to what Tom did in ‘MR’. Again at 16 and about 17 minutes. It only made me want to watch ‘MR’ again! 😉
