I spy Cruise and Diaz

This is from an interview with Cameron Diaz about her new movie with Tom.

The film in question is tentatively entitled Wichita (expect that to change). It’s an action romantic comedy — the same sub-genre as, say, Mr. and Mrs. Smith or True Lies — about a woman whose bad luck in men takes a turn for the worse (or better) when she falls for a secret agent. Cruise would play the spy, Diaz the woman with a history of man trouble.

“It’ll be a blast. I’m really looking forward to it. Tom is awesome and it’ll be great to work with him again. He’ll be wonderful in this part. We’ll have a great time,” says Diaz, who is nevertheless pragmatic enough to add, “I never believe anything’s happening until I’m on the set. You never know what can happen.”

Diaz’s caution is justified. For the past several months, various studios have been courting Cruise — a signal his fortunes have improved after the commercial success of Valkyrie. Other projects that had been vying for his approval included Motorcade, about an automotive assassination attempt on the U.S. president; The Tourist, a spy yarn that would have co-starred Charlize Theron; and David Cronenberg’s adaptation of the Robert Ludlum thriller The Matarese Circle, which would have paired Cruise with Denzel Washington. Presumably Cruise may still make one or more of these projects, but for right now, it appears his teaming with Diaz comes first. Directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) it’s expected to shoot later this year for a release next summer.

Tom Cruise-David Beckham friendship explored in book about soccer star

David Beckham and Tom Cruise are going to be besties for life.

In “The Beckham Experiment,” Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl devotes nearly an entire chapter to the bromance between the soccer stud and A-list actor. To hear Becks tell it, Cruise has influenced every major decision he has made since the two met in 2003.

Both David and his wife, Victoria, who celebrated their 10th anniversary on Saturday, shared the “Mission: Impossible” actor’s rep, Creative Artists Agency, and at Cruise’s urging, also hired his L.A.-based PR firm, Rogers & Cowan.

When the couple relocated to L.A., they moved – where else? – just five minutes from Cruise’s home with Katie Holmes on San Ysidro Drive in Beverly Hills. TomKat even hosted the Beckhams’ “Welcome to L.A.” party, with Cruise making the haul from Germany, where he had been filming “Valkyrie.”

In addition, Beckham says he talks to his best mate most days of the week and takes his advice on nearly everything. Tom was influential in Becks’ decision to take a job with the L.A. Galaxy. He also recommended Beckham’s physical therapist and introduced him to another superstar pal, Will Smith.

The Cruise/Beckham families have hung out at Tom’s home in Telluride, Colo., spent Thanksgiving together in NYC and drank loads of wine in Napa while celebrating Victoria’s 34th birthday last year.

Cruise even influenced Beckham’s decision in naming his third son, Cruz.

“I must admit, when [Victoria and I] met Tom, I remember turning around to Victoria and saying, ‘Cruise is a great name, but we could spell it different,'” Beckham told Wahl for the book, due from Crown Publishing on Tuesday. “And also, living in Spain, Cruz is spelled the way it is in Spanish. So that’s why we got it.”

One thing the brothers from another mother don’t share, however, is a love of Scientology. Beckham is adamant that he has no interest in his pal’s faith. “It’s something I respect, because Tom’s explained to me and Victoria what it’s all about. But he’s never turned around and said, ‘That is what you should be doing,’ because he would never do that. He and Katie have their beliefs … but me and Victoria have also got our own.”

Tom cruises with James Packer while Katie Holmes shops

AFTER jetting out of Melbourne on Tuesday, Tom Cruise is rumoured to have buddied up with his good friend and host James Packer for a few matey days at sea.

While his wife, Katie Holmes, and the couple’s adored daughter, Suri, remain at Crown Towers, Cruise and Packer are believed to have left Australia for a few days on board one of Packer’s yachts.

The Packer pleasure ship, the Arctic P, has been moored in Tahiti’s Port de Papeete in recent months – a convenient flight across the Pacific for the men who share a close friendship and love of recreational activities.

The pair are long overdue for a bonding session.

In the past decade, Cruise has proved a loyal friend to Packer.

He mentored the then media scion through the One.Tel crisis, introduced him to his Church of Scientology at his lowest point, and was at Packer’s side following the death of his father, Kerry.

But since both have taken new wives and seen the arrival of new children, there have been few opportunities for catch-ups.

With her hubby out of town, Holmes took her daughter Suri on a shopping spree late Tuesday afternoon.

Holmes and Suri headed to Target in Bourke St, snapping up about $800 worth of toys, clothes and homewares to make her gilded living quarters at Crown more homely.

Holmes and Suri, accompanied by two security guards, browsed the store before buying among other things a children’s bike, a Dora the Explorer piano, a Barbie doll, some flannelette sheets for a child’s bed, several floor mats with heart and flower designs, some board games, several children’s DVDs and an AFL football.

Holmes and Cruise have hardly been extravagant with their spending while in Melbourne – leaving aside an unsubstantiated rumour that she bought a ludicrously expensive handbag at Burberry last week.

Before popping down to Target, Holmes spent time in the day spa at Crown.

Yesterday, she was back at the Docklands studios rehearsing with her co-star, Guy Pearce.

Filming on the horror flick Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark will start on Monday.

Cruise family gets Ballarat invitation

SOVEREIGN Hill is laying out the red carpet for Hollywood “royalty” Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their daughter Suri.

The Cruise family is currently in Melbourne for Holmes’ role in the upcoming horror flick Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.

The celebrity family is staying at James Packer’s private Crown Towers penthouse.

They have already been spotted at the theatre, Melbourne Zoo and Aquarium to keep three-year-old Suri entertained.

Tom Cruise also spent his 47th birthday in a corporate box at the MCG with fellow actor Guy Pearce, watching Collingwood defeat arch rival Essendon.

Sovereign Hill has been in touch will the concierge at Crown and staff are putting together a Sovereign Hill hamper full of goodies with a formal letter from Jeremy Johnson inviting them to visit for a taste of Australian gold rush history.

“Over the years Sovereign Hill has played host to many high profile, international guests – from Eartha Kitt and Joan Rivers to the Queen and Prince Phillip,” said chief executive officer Jeremy Johnson.

“If the Cruise family choose to visit Sovereign Hill we would offer them the same warm welcome and unique experience that we provide to all our guests.”

Meanwhile, 3BA program director Garrath Cockerell said Pink’s management hadn’t ruled out a visit from the popular singer.

Last month Ballarat was awash with pink as part of a campaign to get the singer to visit while in Melbourne for her Fun House Tour.

The event raised $15,000 for the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre.

Sony representatives have passed on photos and articles from the day, and told Mr Cockerell that Pink was about to take a nine-day break from performing to go on a motorbike tour with estranged husband Carey Hart.

With eight more shows to go in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena, Mr Cockerell is still hopeful there may be time for Pink to visit Ballarat.

Katie Holmes, Suri Celebrate Tom Cruise’s 47th Birthday Down Under

Tom Cruise turned the big 4-7 over the weekend with wife Katie Holmes and 3-year-old daughter daughter Suri.

On his July 3 birthday, Cruise caught an AFL (Australian Football League) match between between Geelong and St Kilda at Docklands from a private box. He and his family then enjoyed a quiet in Melbourne.

Two days later, they watched the stage production of Jersey Boys: The Story Of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons at Princess Theatre in Melbourne, Australia.

Since arriving July 1 in Australia (his ex Nicole Kidman‘s native country), Cruise and his family have also visited the Melbourne Aquarium (where they posed with a sting ray) and Melbourne Zoo, where Cruise bought Suri a toy kangaroo.

The Cruise clan will be spending a lot more time in the country as Holmes shoots her next movie, the horror flick Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, in Melbourne.

Explanations & Happy Birthday for Tom

Hi everyone!

This is a post to explain what’s going on lately. I know I’ve been absent from the site. A lot of stuff going on in my personal life, my work and my health.

I have not lost interest in Tom’s career but I cant keep the site as update as it was at this moment. I have in the past put my own health aside to keep working, but it’s just something I cannot do right now.
In the past few months I have twisted my ankle twice (and earning a nice cast), and I’ve got a back problem right which I cannot be sitting down as much.
I’ve also had legal issues with the site, problems with pictures I had posted, I’ll not get into details about this.

I understand that Chantal is disappointed at me. I’m disappointed at myself, but I either get myself together or do a lousy job, and I never liked doing things halfway. She’s been the best co-web I’ve ever had and I’ probably scared her away with my own problems.

I am NOT closing the site. I am NOT giving it away. I’m trying to get new co-webs, Hayley will be joining us soon (if she still wants it). I’m just asking you guys to be a little more patient with me. I know I may not deserve it, but I hope you guys dont forget this has been the biggest site of Tom and it’s been open since 2001.

Today is Tom’s birthday and I’d like to wish him a very happy birthday and all the joys!
