I’ve just finished the site’s new theme, all made of Top Gun: Maverick. We waited over 35 years for this movie and it was worth every second! So, let’s celebrate it!
Also, this January marks the site’s 23rd year online.
Direct by Joseph Kosinski, written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, Christopher McQuarrie, the sequel to the 1986 Top Gun has made history by grossing over US$ 718 million in the US and US$ 770 million worldwide, bringing to a total of US$ 1.488 billion. The film is Tom Cruise’s highest grossing film and the highest grossing film of 2022. It just loses worldwide to Avatar 2. But Top Gun: Maverick hasn’t been released in China due to political conflicts, which allowed Avatar to surpass the box office. Still, it’s no small feat.
In December it broke a new record for the streaming service Paramount+ when it become #1 streamed movie worldwide right after it’s release online.
Critically, it received a score of 96% positive on Rotten Tomatoes and an average rating f 8.2 out of 10. The website’s consensus reads, “Top Gun: Maverick pulls off a feat even trickier than a 4G inverted dive, delivering a long-belated sequel that surpasses its predecessor in wildly entertaining style.”[180] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 78 out of 100, based on 63 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews”.[181] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film a rare “A+” grade on an A+ to F scale, while PostTrak reported 96% of audience members gave it a positive score, with 84% saying they would definitely recommend it.

Tom Cruise thanked fans for the success of Top Gun: Maverick today in his best style, from a helicopter and sky diving on the set of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2. All that to announce the movie will be on Paramount+ on December 22nd. That’s why we love you, Tom!

Tom Cruise is already set to receive the Producers Guild Awards 2023 David O. Selznick Achievement Award at the 34th Annual Producers Guild Awards on Feb. 25. The award recognizes a producer or producing team for their work in motion pictures. Past recipients include Steven Spielberg, Barbara Broccoli, Mary Parent, Brian Grazer, David Heyman and Kevin Feige.
Top Gun: Maverick already won Best Picture From the National Board of Review
They’ve also given the Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography to Claudio Miranda.

Tom Cruise is synonymous with movie stardom. But over the decades, Cruise has also developed a talent for producing the films he stars in, along with a few other movies where he’s not the name above the title.
In gratitude for, you know, nearly saving the movie business this summer with “Top Gun: Maverick,” Cruise will be honored with the 2023 David O. Selznick Achievement Award by the Producers Guild of America (PGA). He will accept the honor at the 34th Annual Producers Guild Awards on Feb. 25, 2023, at The Beverly Hilton.
The award’s namesake, David O. Selznick, oversaw the production of “Gone With the Wind.” Previous recipients of the Selznick Award include Steven Spielberg; Barbara Broccoli, the steward of the James Bond franchise; Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer; and Kevin Feige, maestro of the MCU.
“Beginning with ‘Mission: Impossible,’ Tom Cruise has developed a talent for producing to match his extraordinary talent as an actor. Tom approaches producing with the same meticulous attention to detail he brings to all of his professional endeavors,” said Producers Guild Presidents Donald De Line and Stephanie Allain. “His commitment to telling bold, cinematic and entertaining stories has elevated the global theatrical experience and has resulted in some of the most popular motion pictures in history. We are thrilled to honor him with the David O. Selznick Award for his excellence in producing.”
Cruise’s films have earned over $11 billion in worldwide box office. His producing credits include the “Mission: Impossible” and “Jack Reacher” franchises, “Vanilla Sky,” “The Last Samurai” and “Elizabethtown.” Cruise will produce as well as star in “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1” and “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 2.”
