Cruise Switches Publicists

Tom has a new publicist.

Today he signed on with public-relations firm 42West. Tom will be represented by film department co-head and partner Amanda Lundberg, who also personally reps MGM CEO Mary Parent. “42West handles MGM’s movies, and Tom was impressed by Amanda’s work on Valkyrie,” said an insider. “They’ve been talking about this for a long time.”

Tom had been a devoted client of Pat Kingsley at PMK until March 2004 when he fired the veteran publicist after 14 years. He replaced her with his sister Lee Anne DeVette. She announced in November 2005 that she was resigning as his publicist to work on philanthropic projects. Then Tom hired Rogers & Cowan’s veteran Paul Bloch and Arnold Robinson who specializes in repping mostly over-the-hill action stars.

Jeff Raymond who worked with Tom at his (now) former public relations firm responded to a request for comment by saying, “Rogers & Cowan and Tom Cruise remain friends and we wish him well in all his future endeavors.”
