Tom Cruise will present BEST DIRECTOR at the Oscars. Keep an eye out, folks!

    Movie superstar Tom Cruise was so moved by the plight of homeless people near his film set recently – he immediately moved to ease their problems.

    The Last Samurai hunk was shooting upcoming thriller Collateral in a downtown area of Los Angeles when he saw a group of street dwellers living nearby.

    And Cruise was so horrified by their living condition he sent his assistant out to buy them blankets, pillows, sleeping bags and coats.

  • * 3rd Biggest Warner Bros. Film behind Harry Potter and Harry Potter 2
  • * 11th Highest Industry Grosser
  • * No. 1 Tom Cruise Film of All-Time
  • The Last Samurai also broke records for the No. 1 Tom Cruise film in Italy ($24.1m) and Spain ($22m – where it is now the 3rd biggest Warner Bros. film of all-time).
  • Europe (incl. Eastern Europe) grossed an estimated $5.4m, bringing the cumulative total to $143m
  • Asia/Pacific – the cumulative total is $31.2m.
  • Latin America – the cumulative total is $21.1m
