  • Filming of WAR OF THE WORLDS started today in Newark, NJ. During a break, Cruise met with fans to chat and sign autographs. Pictures are here!

According to one fan, they had the surrounding streets closed with those yellow “Police: Do Not Cross” lines. After the filming that took place for about 1 hour the directors and others started shouting “30 minute Lunch break”. He was walking to a black jeep and everyone just ran from where they were to where Tom was. He was very generous in signing alot of autographs and taking alot of pictures with people. Many people didnt have paper for him to sign so they were giving him dollar bills!!

    Thanks Sergio for the news/pics!

  • BO REPORT

Tom Cruise ‘s army of admirers turned out for “Collateral” in Japan, and M. Night Shyamalan’s fans embraced “The Village” in Italy over the weekend.

“Collateral” nailed an estimated $4 million on 388 screens in Japan, including $1 million in sneaks, rated as 19% ahead of the bow of Cruise’s “Vanilla Sky.” Thriller benefited from promo visits to Tokyo by the thesp and helmer Michael Mann, but the beheading of a Japanese hostage in Iraq (news – web sites) may have made sections of the population less receptive to the hit-man saga. However, UIP was confident the pic will be No. 1, ahead of “Be With You,” Japanese weepie about a widowed father and son who encounter someone they believe to be their long-dead wife and mom, from the producers of hit “Crying Out for Love, From the Center of the World.” “Collateral” gunned down roughly $9.4 million at the weekend, hoisting cume to $84.2 million.

  • Tom at the game

Tom and David chat at the game

    Hello! Magazine:
In the Mission Impossible movies, Tom Cruise proves his skills in everything from rock-climbing to motorbike racing. But the Tinseltown star had to sit back and take some pointers from a professional on Sunday night, when he joined David Beckham to watch a game of soccer.

The two stars were photographed sitting in the VIP box at Real Madrid’s famous Santiago Bernabeu stadium. David was unable to play himself, because he is still recovering from a cracked rib, so he invited Tom to come along and see his team take on league rivals Getafe.

Victoria was also there, keeping warm under an orange poncho, while sons Romeo and Brooklyn were both sporting the team’s jersey. And the family’s A-list guest seemed to be taking a keen interest in the game, because he was asking David questions throughout the match.

American Film Institute honours Tom Cruise

    From: India Daily.com

He might not be a veteran, but Hollywood heart-throb Tom Cruise surely has some great movies to his credit, and so, it was only apt that he was honoured by the American Film Institute at a ceremony in Los Angeles. According to BBC, Cruise watched a montage of his career highlights featuring some of his best-loved roles in films like Born On The Fourth of July and Top Gun. “Definitely some of them are extremely different. I”m always looking for that. I”m always looking for a challenge,” he was quoted as saying.

Tom Cruise In Real Madrid Invite

Tom Cruise enjoyed a football match with new friends David and Victoria Beckham last night (31.10.04).

The Hollywood actor joined the England football captain and the former Spice Girl to watch Beckham’s team, Real Madrid, beat Spanish rivals Getafe 2-0 at the Bernabeu stadium.

Cruise was invited by Beckham, who is recovering from broken ribs, to join him, Victoria and their two sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, in their VIP box while he is in Madrid to promote his Church of Scientology religion. An onlooker said: “He is obviously a huge sports fan and was asking questions throughout the game.”

  • Cruise, Oprah Tapped For Nobel Peace Prize Concert

Tom Cruise and Oprah Winfrey will host December’s traditional Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, honoring the 2004 laureate, Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai, organizers told the AP Wednesday.

“They really wanted to do it, right from the start,” concert organizer Odd Arvid Stroemstad said by telephone Wednesday. “They clearly know what the Nobel concert is, and what the Nobel Peace Prize is about.”

As masters of ceremony for the Dec. 11 concert in the capital, Oslo, Winfrey and Cruise will share the stage with plenty of high-profile entertainment.

Entertainers booked to play the show include British teen soul singer Joss Stone, opera vocalist Andrea Bocelli, jazz singer Diana Krall, pop singer Cyndi Lauper and Patti Labelle, along with several Norwegian artists.

The Nobel concert will be carried live in more than 100 countries, and traditionally draws some of the biggest names in show business. Last year, the event was hosted by Hollywood husband-and-wife Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

  • DVD details regarding Collateral

When DreamWorks’ double-disc “Collateral” DVD hits stores Dec. 14, film buffs will get an unprecedented look into director Michael Mann’s style of filmmaking and a view into how stars Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx trained for their roles. The DVD’s bonus materials capture Mann’s private exchanges with the cast and crew and include a wealth of footage that unveils the creative and technical process that brought the actioner to life.

“City of Night: The Making of Collateral” highlights footage specifically shot for the DVD, with segments on Cruise as he goes through weapons training, Foxx’s preparation with cab drivers and his stunt driving practice and Mann’s use of state-of-the-art equipment that enabled him to capture a gritty view of nighttime Los Angeles.

Another DVD bonus feature, “Special Delivery,” shows Cruise donning a Federal Express uniform and striding through a busy marketplace in Los Angeles to hand-deliver a package, all captured on hidden camera.”

  • Tom Cruise leads $100 million movies club

…..“This is a movie that had legs, a concept that has all but vanished from the movie lexicon,” said Dergarabedian, president of Exhibitor Relations Co. “It didn’t open with this huge bang but slowly and successfully built this audience. It hung in there and was always in the mix.” …..

…..Collateral” is Cruise’s fifth consecutive film to gross at least $100 million domestically and 12th overall. Dergarabedian said it has been “the Cruise factor” that has enabled the actor’s last five movies, all vastly different from each other, to be commercial hits. They include “The Last Samurai,” “Minority Report,” “Vanilla Sky,” and “Mission Impossible II.” “The Cruise factor to me is that he does something like ’Samurai,’ ’Collateral,” or ’Vanilla Sky’ — which are not ’Mission: Impossible’ — and the audience will follow him wherever he goes,” he said. “Tom Cruise appears on the screen and $100 million is almost guaranteed, even if it takes awhile.”

  • Don’t forget, tomorrow Born on the Fourth of July Special Edition DVD hits stores. Click here for more details.
  • Cruise was in Japan this morning, more on that with pictures tomorrow. Also coming tomorrow, video of the week– David Letterman part the second!
